SEGS Projects
Since 1980, key members of our team led the research and development of three generations of trough technology used in the 354 MW SEGS project:
Our team also built and operated all of the production lines for the key solar components including the evacuated receiver (the same line later acquired by Solel) and the solar collector assembly. With over 25 years of successful commercial operation the trough technology is the most proven and lowest cost solar power generation technology available today.
What was demonstrated during the SEGS project?
The nine power plants built in California
SEGS I 14MW since 1984
SEGS II 30MW since 1985
SEGS III 30MW since 1986
SEGS IV 30MW since 1986
SEGS V 30MW since 1987
SEGS VI 30MW since 1988
SEGS VII 30MW since 1988
SEGS VIII 30MW since 1989
SEGS IX 30MW since 1990
Total Capacity 354 MW
Spain Projects
3 X 50MW CSP in Spain
These projects will produce cleaner electricity equivalent to the consumption of 90,000 homes, thus preventing 144,000 tonnes of CO2 a year being emitted into the atmosphere
Scope of work of Ener-t includes:
Projects connected to the grid – Q4/2012
India Projects - 50MW CSP ABHIJEET
Ener-t served as the EPC contractor for the project on LSTK basis under Consortium with local EPC company. Ener-t also served as the Technology Provider qualifying the project for the authorities and financial institutes Ener-t also served as the Solar Field Supplier with proven and advanced Ener-t Solar Field ES-3.5 solar collector.
Ener-t scope also includes:
Project status – construction in advanced stage. COD planned for Q2/2015
National CSP R&D center at Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India
Ener-t International has been awarded the engineering work toward the establishment of the National CSP R&D center at the Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India.
The consortium leading the project, comprising Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur (IITJ); Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL); and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has selected Ener-t in a competitive tender announced later 2013.
The experimental plant will be designed for continuous power generation in as small a size as is feasible (typically kWe range) with steam, using a turbine. Steam will be generated from the heat collected by the solar fields (direct or through thermal storage). Scalability issues pertaining to the best combination of CSP technologies, storage concepts & materials shall also be kept under consideration so that the next stage of this project of achieving LCOE on continuous basis in a MWe level plant can be judiciously taken up.
“The center is planned to open in 2015 with the latest CSP technologies, and will support India in its program to become world leader in CSP,” says Yehuda Harats, Ener-t’s Founder and Chairman.
“25 years ago, working at Luz, our people played key roles in the technology development and construction of the largest solar thermal energy generating facility in the world, which is successfully operating still today – the 354 megawatts Solar Energy Generating Systems (SEGS) in California’s Mojave Desert,” says Harats, who at the time served as the Executive VP of Luz, and pioneered the solar field core technology.
